Diplomatic Ties Strengthened as Paynesville Introduces New City Council Members


The City of Paynesville has inaugurated a new City Council to assist in steering the policies and governance of the municipality. In a formal ceremony led by Mayor Robert Soluntul Bestman, II, the new City Council members were introduced during an acquaintance meeting with the leadership of the Paynesville City Corporation (PCC).

The newly appointed council members include:

1. Sheik Yaya Jalloh – Chairman

2. Mrs. Tarena. Alfreda Thomas – Co-chair

3. Mrs. Frances D. Wilson – Member

4. Mr. Nanmagai Maxwell Paye – Member

5. Mrs. Rosemarie Horace – Member

6. Mrs. Kebbeh K. Beyan – Member

7. Mr. Paul Alex Panto, Jr. – Member

8. Mrs. Florence Innis – Member

9. Mr. Mohammed D. Alieu – Member

During the meeting, Mayor Bestman expressed his enthusiasm about working with the new team, highlighting their diverse representation. “For the very first time, our City Council includes key sectors of the city: women, young people, the business community, and professionals are all part,” said the Mayor. He further assured the council of his commitment to working collaboratively for the development and progress of Paynesville.

Mrs. Hawa Sheriff-Dunbar, another key official of the PCC, also took the opportunity to introduce the department directors, explaining their respective roles and functions to the new council members.

Sheik Yaya Jalloh, the newly appointed Chairman of the City Council, thanked the Mayor and PCC for the warm reception, promising the council’s full support.

We are committed to supporting the leadership of the PCC under Mayor Bestman’s guidance for the betterment of Paynesville,” stated Jalloh.

The new council members bring a wealth of experience from various sectors, enhancing the governance structure of one of Liberia’s most populous cities.
