The President of the Republic of Liberia H.E George Manneh Weah, upon arrival in Dakar, Senegal immediately began working for the Liberian people as usual.
Today, during a meeting at the King Fahd Palace Hotel in Dakar, President Weah and President Alpha Conde of Guinea, both leaders decided to immediately operationalize an agreement for iron ore mined in Guinea to be transported via the Nimba-Bassa rail to the port of Buchanan for export. Liberia will benefit from the agreement thru revenue from tariffs for use of the rail, fees for port usage and job creation for thousands of citizens.
The two leaders also agreed that the third party use clause, which is allowed under the current Concession with Arcelor Mittal, will be practicalized with the involvement of ArcelorMittal. The rail is the property of the government of Liberia.
