BREAKING: Liberians Join Global Outcry Against ICE Violence and Injustice

Liberians – known for their fierce love of freedom and justice, have risen again to stand against what many are calling unjust and deadly actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Over the past month, controversial immigration raids and enforcement operations in Minnesota and across the United States have sparked massive protests and international condemnation.

The uproar intensified after 37-year-old Minneapolis resident Renée Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent during a January 7 raid, a tragedy that triggered nationwide demonstrations. Thousands marched in cities from Minneapolis to San Francisco demanding accountability and change.

On February 7, 2026, protesters, including Liberians and supporters of all races, ethnicities, and backgrounds, gathered outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis to mark the one-month anniversary of Good’s death. Clashes with law enforcement led to dozens of arrests as demonstrators called for justice, human rights, and an end to aggressive immigration enforcement.

Among the voices rising to lead and unify the movement is Alfreda Princess Daniels, a Liberian woman living in the Minneapolis area. Alfreda has emerged as a passionate advocate, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with protesters from diverse communities, including Black, Indigenous, Asian, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized groups, in calling for ICE to stop actions that violate human rights and civil liberties. She has vowed to continue the fight until these issues are addressed fairly and with dignity.

We gonna be part of the resistance because we need to be the one to step up for our community.” Alfreda declared. “We have to step up. We have to be there for our community. We are not gonna go anywhere until this is over.

Liberians and allies are using their voices to amplify calls for systemic change, justice, and respect for all people, whether documented, undocumented, or seeking a better life.
