“Traditional Chiefs in Cote d’Ivoire this afternoon (Thursday, April 5, 2018) gowned Liberian leader President George Manneh Weah and showered him with a traditional gift items including a walking stick, engraved with an Elephant symbol. They also capped the ceremony by naming President Weah as “Étoile”, meaning “Star”. The elaborate ceremony was held at the Liberian Embassy near Cocody, Abidjan.
The Chiefs enumerated the President’s numerous achievements as a Footballer and his ascendancy to the Presidency of Liberia They termed the journey as a blessing from God, the Almighty. The Chiefs congratulated the Liberian leader on his presidency and urged him to work hard and deliver on the mandate given to him by the people of Liberia. “We are proud of you…” the Chiefs hailed the President.”
