The government of India, through its Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri (Mr.) M. J. Akbar, has pledged to support Liberia and our new president, George M. Weah. Akbar said that this will begin with the construction of a convention center in Liberia, which will be named after Mahatma Gandhi.
Minister Akbar has also urged the Liberian government to make use of 100 scholarships, which it provided through its Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program.
He further assured to make good on a previous promise to provide a C.T. Scan to the health sector. He said India will also set up an IT center in the country.
